The No. 40 STP car is trailered in a plexiglass cover. This is the revolutionary turbine that ran at Indy in 1967, driven by Parnelli Jones, that shocked the racing world to its core when it led the race for 171 laps and broke down on the 197th lap when a $6 gearbox part failed. It now resides in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. The photograph of this famous Granatelli race car was taken at Hanford Motor Speedway on Oct. 22, 1967. Granatelli, obviously intensely proud of his accomplishment in building this amazing car, trailered it in a special transparent cover to Hanford for display. (Photo courtesy of John Isom)
